Solar water heater
A solar water heater can revolutionize the way you heat your pool.
Pools remain the most common solar energy application for homes. Solar
powered heaters and lights will cut your utility bill in half, if not
erase it completely in time.
Obviously there is a whole intricate system set up for a solar water
heater that includes solar panels, filters and collectors, but most
of this doesn’t really affect the typical homeowner.
In order to have the system work properly, it is the responsibility
of the homeowner to set the timer that comes with the system. What the
timer does is allow the pool water to be filtered at precisely the same
time that the solar collectors gather radiation. Typically, the best
time to do this is mid-morning to late afternoon when the sun is brightest
and hottest.
Actually, the solar water heater can work as a cooler as well. During
the warmest of the summer months, some uncovered pools run the pool
pump during the late evening and very early morning hours when the sun
is hidden. Only at this time the pumps run in reverse. This, in turn,
actually cools down the pool if it is too hot for comfort in the day
time.
